Since you are looking at my website, my guess is that you or someone you care about may be struggling with life’s inevitable challenges. You may be troubled by symptoms of trauma, depression, anxiety, worry, fear, panic, grief, or other life stress. You may be grappling with relationship problems, experiencing professional or work-related problems, suffering under the weight of recent or distant grief/loss issues, experiencing an urge to further self-understanding and personal growth, looking to develop personal skills or to enhance your self-esteem or self-confidence, or simply wrestling with the grind of everyday stressors and strain.
Well, I want you to know that help is available, and you don’t have to struggle or search for solutions alone. Everyone needs help at some point. There is no shame in this, and there is good reason to believe that things can improve more easily and quickly with help than without help. As I imagine you already know, suppression and avoidance of our problems requires a lot of energy, which can leave us feeling tired, 'out of sorts', and even hopeless at times. So if you have come to realize you want something different for yourself and you are ready to try a different approach (or at least moving in that direction), contact me, and we’ll do just that. I am a licensed psychologist, and I specialize in trauma therapy and EMDR.
Because carefully choosing a therapist is important, I have developed my website in a way that hopefully will help you to evaluate the goodness-of-fit between your needs and preferences and what I have to offer. With that in mind, I have done my best to describe my approach to therapy, my training and credentials, and a little bit about me personally. If there is anything you think I’ve left out, feel free to contact me and ask.
If you would like to schedule an appointment with me, call me at 713-922-5339 or contact me through the contact form on this page. I'm generally available for appointments on Mondays afternoons, Thursdays, Friday mornings, and occasionally Friday afternoons. A limited number of evening appointments are available on Thursdays—just call me about this and we'll see if we can come up with a time that works for both of us. If I am unable to assist you personally, I'll be happy to try to provide a referral to someone who might be more suitable to your current needs.
In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says that no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there’s something stronger – something better, pushing right back. – Albert Camus, The Stranger
